Will have post-qualification courses in four disciplines
Coimbatore:e of Cost and Works Accounts of India (ICWAI) has framed a new syllabus and plans to implement it in six months to one year, ICWAI president Dhananjay V.Joshi and said here on Friday.
“We will also have post disqualification courses in four disciplines – taxation, management, accounting and IT,” Mr.Joshi said
He was speaking at the regional cost convention of the Southern India Regional Council of the Institute.
As part of efforts to make its presence in the international area, the institute planned to sign arguments with Pakistan and Bangladesh. A similar agreement was already in place with Sri Lanka.
The institute already had a “good relationship” with Canada and proposed to strengthen it for activities such as research and mutual recognition, he said.
The Institute was also looking at opening a branch in Nigeria for the benefit of Nigerian students, he added. “We have plan and a vision plan for the institute,” Mr. Joshi said.
Chief Financial Officer of Tata Consultancy Services S.Mahalingam listed out 10 steps that an organization should follow to achieve excellence. “Most companies have multiplicity of application systems and therefore they are not integrated. Experience in such cases is that to many things are measured but too few controls exist. While the integration of systems will take time, we need to decide on the starting block and build systems architecture on top of it. It is best to start a place where value is being created,” he said.
Inaugurating the conference, president of the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore, D. Balasundaram, said during the last 15 years exports from the manufacturing sector had grown tremendously. In Tamil Nadu, the main exporting sectors were textile, software, engineering, leather, chemicals. For textile and engineering sectors, the resources were not available the local market. Even in such scenario, these units were able to achieve competitiveness. Cost played an important role in achieving this, he said.
