The Institute of Forest Genetics and Tree Breeding, Coimbatore is undertaking a research project to produce hybrid varieties of Red Sweet tamarind and details on occurrences Red and Sweet tamarind trees, in nature in the States of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka are required.

A Persons, who knows the location of such trees, are requested to pass on the above information to either through post card/email or phone to 0422-2431540, 2450302, 2435541 or fax to 0422-2430549. Suitable reward shall be given to the people providing accurate information. The identified trees will be utilized for research purpose and they shall not be felled at all.
