Initially scheduled to be declared on May 20, the release of the final rank list was postponed because of the delay in the release of the CBSE Results and ISC results.
These marks are used for determining eligibility and to compute the final ranks (for engineering aspirants). Minister for Higher Education Arvind Limbavali announced the dates here on Thursday.
Now, the Karnataka Examinations Authority will have to speed up its act to release the final rank list by Saturday. Speaking to The Hindu, a highly-placed KEA official said that they were still processing the marks lists that had been submitted.
Of the 1.4 lakh candidates, less than 5,000 students are from CBSE Schools or ISC schools. Of these, around 3,500 have submitted their marks lists, either in person or by post. “For those who have not contacted us yet, we have sent SMS requesting them to do so at the earliest. We have warned students who do not submit the required information by Friday afternoon that they will not be allotted ranks,” the official said.
He added that the process of communicating with students had become a lot easier this year with the KEA creating a database of cellphone numbers.
“Previously, we used to call them or send them letters. This method is more efficient and reaches out to more people,” the official said.
