Kendriya Vidyalaya School to function from 2011 in Theni
With allocation of 10 acres of land, Theni town will find a place in the national education network as a Kendriya Vidyalaya school is to be established here. The school will function from next academic year, said Collector P. Muthuveeran.
After taking part in a special meeting in this connection here on Friday, he said that the government has acquired eight acres of land near the master plan complex behind the Collectorate for the purpose.
Two acres of ‘natham poromboke’ land near the master plan complex would also be offered for the construction of the Kendriya Vidyalaya School. This would be the first such school in the district, he said.
The district administration had got the eight acres of land from a private college management near the complex after allowing the college to enjoy 7.5 acres of government land inside the college campus.
The acquired land would suffice even for future expansion of the school, he added.
Mr. Muthuveeran felt that this school would offer high quality education at an affordable cost to the people.
The district administration had been striving hard to bring Kendriya Vidyalaya to the district for a long time.
When the district administration approached the Kendriya Vidyalaya authorities, it insisted on an allotment of 10 acres of land for establishing a central government school in the district.
