Chennai: It is that time of the year when those who pass out of school have to take vital decisions about higher education. The Hindu Education Plus Career fair inaugurated here on Saturday sought to give students some idea of t he various courses and career options they could consider.

Speaking at the inaugural session of the third edition of the fair, being organised in association with the University of Madras, Anna University Vice-Chancellor D. Viswanathan said with several multinational corporations (MNCs) investing in India, several job opportunities were available. However, it was important to pay attention to communication skills, soft skills, leadership skills and personality development, all of which made a student more employable, he said. He urged parents to encourage students to study the course of their choice and not force them to pursue a particular course. “It is important that the student be interested in the course he or she studies,” he said.
