Loyala College launches MA Media Arts in Tamil

Tamil has now got its own course in the media arts. Loyola College, which averages one to two new courses relevant to the changing times every year, formally launched an MA Program in Media Arts. The course is expected to open up job options for rural talents. The long-term goal is loftier — grooming a generation that could be at the helm of social advancement and contribute to the enrichment of the Tamil linguistic and literary heritage. While launching the two-year post-graduate Program, Higher Education Minister K. Ponmudy acknowledged the significance of a Tamil-medium Program at the college's School of Media Studies. He also noted that the course ties in with the renewed thrust of the Government to make Tamil the medium of instruction. The Program also affords rural youth who feel intimidated in using English to engage in building a knowledge society. The course is also open to degree holders who have studies Tamil as a second language.
