The court, however, debarred students pursuing other professional courses or those who had discontinued from Professional Courses from participating in the selection process unless they convincingly establish that seats vacated by them would not remain vacant.
While the ruling brought relief to hundreds of aspirants who had passed Plus Two this year, senior students who had qualified for the selection process based on the marks scored in previous years have decided to go in for appeal.
Medical Selection Committee secretary Kalaiselvi said following the High Court order at least 300 senior candidates would stand disqualified from participating in the counselling.
"The counselling will go on as per the earlier announced schedule from Wednesday. However, sessions will begin at 8 am as absentees from Tuesday will have to be accommodated she said.
