Madras University Inks MoU for Distance Education

Chennai: The Institute of Distance Education attached to the University of Madras has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with London-based British Institute of Technology and E-Commerce (BITE) for academic collaboration in various streams.

University vice chancellor S Ramachandran and principal and director, BITE, Muhammad Farmer, signed the MoU at a function held on the university campus here on Monday.

As per the MoU, a one year fast track Master’s programme in management and technology would be provided exclusively for students entrolled through Institute of Distance Education, at BITE, Ramachandran said. He said the students of the varsity could also avail of a special 45 percent scholarship on courses offered by BITE.

On completion of the course, students would be qualified for the Internal Graduate Scheme (IGS), which would help them to work and stay in London as a full-time employee for a year.

Ramachandran further said that the university had been re-structuring and remodelling its educational programmes to make maximum use of globalisation of education.

“We have been actively partnering in several international education programmes. We are looking beyond our boundaries for developing our human resources through assimilation of latest knowledge,” the VC said.
