MoU to set up image processing centre at Karunya University

Karunya University signed a memorandum of understanding with Ananya Innovations Limited recently to set up a "Centre of Excellence in Image Processing" at the university.

Ananya is a pure design company and an ISO / TS 16949 certified automotive component manufacturing company. It facilitates product development and design in areas like embedded systems and imaging solutions. Some of the completed projects include drowsy driver detection system, enhanced vision under adverse conditions and lance departure warning system. The MoU that was signed by Paul P. Appasamy, Vice-Chancellor of the university, and R. Krishna Murthi, Chief Operating Officer of the company, would enable joint development of technologies. It would deal with improving capabilities of common interest; engage in research projects in areas of imaging products for automotive, industry and Medical Applications. Ananya would also recommend project work / laboratory exercises and provide guidance to students. There was also a proposal to jointly develop course content for a certification Program in Image Processing, to be offered by the university. The course would be designed in a manner such that the industry considered it like a 'finishing school' for image processing engineers.
