Chennai: Legal Education and Research Society (LEARS), non-profit society, signed a Memorandum of Understanding recently with Om Prakash Jindal Gramin Jan Kalyan Sansthan (O.P.J. Sansthan) to establish the Jindal Global Law School in Haryana.
According to a press release, the Law School is expected to become a centre of intellectual activities in the field of legal education and research.
An international advisory committee, comprising distinguished academic from leading universities of the world, lawyers and people committed to promoting excellence in education, would held it maintain high standards.
On behalf of the Sansthan Sanjeev Sahni, head of the Organization Development of Jindal Steel and Power Limited and the Society’s Secretary-general Francis Julian signed the MoU in the presence of the Union Law Minister H.R. Bharadwaj, Member of Parliament Naveen Jindal and others.
LEARS President M.P. Singh said it was an initiative to take concrete steps towards promoting excellence in legal education and research in India.
Peter Schuck Professor of Law at Yale School and co-convener of the International Advisory Committee of LEARS said the Jindal Global Law School would emerge as a leader in cutting edge research in the fields of law and public policy.
