Research Intern Awards: Under “CSIR Diamond Jubilee Research Intern Awards” Scheme.

Applications are invited for 22 (twenty-two) Research Intern Awards from Indian nationals, who are creative, have passion and desire to pursue S&T as a career.

CSIR Diamond Jubilee Research Awards Scheme is meant to be a preparatory phase for young Interns imbibing the spirit of enquiry and learning the tools and techniques of research through participation and doing. The scheme thus seeks for young interns to gain from the knowledge and experience of accomplished scientists by working with them, and to take up S&T as a career.

About Institute:

National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources (NISCAIR) is devoted to science communication, dissemination and S&T information management systems and service using modern IT infrastructure. Broadly the core activity of NISCAIR is to collect / store, publish and dissemination S&T information which benefits different segments of society. The Institute offers wide range of information services ranging from literature search to production and printing of S&T publications. The Institute has strong Human Resource Development Programme for training personnel in library & Information science, documentation, science communication and herbarium techniques, NISCAIR also undertakes projects on turnkey basis for other organizations.

Eligibility:

First class or equivalent GPA in M.Sc. (Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Physics), M.Lib.Sci./ M.L.I Sc, (or)
First class or equivalent GPA in B.E. or B.Tech (Inform. Tech or Comp. Sci.) / MCA

Age Limit:

25 years, as on last date of receiving the applications. It is relaxable upto 5 years in the case of SC / ST / OBC / PH and female candidates.

Areas:

The selected interns will work for – Research Journals in S&T, Popular Science magazines, Wealth of India (encyclopedic publication), National Science Library, abstracting / database sciences and other related activities.

Areas of research intern awards and tentative number of awards required in each area are: Botany (5), Chemistry (5), Physics (4), Zoology (1), Library Science (5), Information Technology (2)

In the area of Botany, one award each may considered for the candidates with proficiency in Hindi and Urdu languages.

Stipend: Rs.7, 500/- per month consolidated, No other allowances are payable.

Tenure:

Maximum period of 2 years, not extendable under any circumstances and subject to satisfactory performance to be evaluated 6 months. The interns shall have no clam for further extension, absorption or regularization in CSIR after the expiry / termination of the internship.

Mode of Selection:

All eligible candidates would be called for written aptitude test and the candidates recommended by the screening committee, based on the performance in the test, would be interviewed. Selection of candidates for the research Intern Awards would be based on their overall performance in aptitude test and the interview. No TA /DA will be paid attending the test / interview.

How to Apply:

A) The prescribed application form can be downloaded from NISCAIR website: http://www.niscair.res.in. Applications duly filled in (neatly hand written / typed) and complete in all respects, accompanied by attested educational qualification, experience and caste / testimonials in support of age, educational qualification, experience and caste / tribe etc. mentioned in the application, should be submitted. The applicants must bring all original certificates / testimonials at the time of test / interview.

B) Applications may be also be submitted online through NISCAIR website: http://www.niscair.res.in. The candidate submitting application online must also submit the printout of the application duly signed, along with attested photograph and copies of certificates / testimonials in support of age educational qualification, experience and caste / tribes etc. mentioned the application. The applicants must bring original certificates /testimonials at the time of test / interview.

C) Applications may also be submitted to – The Director National Institute of Science Communication & Information Resources (NISCAIR), Dr.K.S. Krishnan Marg, Pusa Campus, New Delhi-110 012, by mentioning the Advt.No. and the subject of Intern of the Envelope on or before 7th May 2007 (5.p.m).Those application received after this date of time will not be considered at all. Hence candidates, in their own interest, are advised to send the application well time.

Canvassing in any Form and / or Bringing in any influence will be treated as Disqualification.
