National Photo Competition on Literacy

National Literacy Mission

The National Literacy Mission is organizing National Photo Competition on Literacy with the following objectives:

1. To sensitize general masses in favour of literacy

2. To build a favourable environment towards literacy programmes especially for low literacy districts

3. To create social awareness through literacy amongst general public.

Topic / theme of the photographs would be: Literacy for women empowerment, Literacy for development, Literacy through self – help groups, Literacy through Vocational education, Literacy for national integration, Literacy for social awareness.

Rules for entry

1. No entry fee / no entry form required.

2. The photographs may be Black & White or in Color in 10’’x 12’ or 16’x20” in size. Maximum six entries may be sent on each theme/ topic. However, the total photographs for the competition should not exceed 20 in number.

3. The entries should not be mounted.

4. Each entry should carry name, nationality, postal address, telephone numbers, E-mail address etc on the back of each photograph in BLOCK LETTERS.

5. A brief description of the photograph/s and bio – data of the photographers is not more than 100 words each should be attached with the entry.

6. A certificate that all photographs are work of original nature and taken by the entrant himself/ herself is to be enclosed by the entrant.

7. The entries should be superscribed with the words: ‘NATIONAL PHOTO COMPETITION ON LITERACY’ to be addressed to the Director, Directorate of Adult Education (DAE), Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Block No. 10, Jamnagar House, and Shahjahan Road, New Delhi – 110011.

8. All the entries received for the competition will become the property of DAE and will be used for the purpose of literacy only. The entries not selected for the award will remain in photo library maintained by Publication Unit of DAE. Credit for each photograph will be given at the time of usage in which name of the contestant shall be indicated.

9. All the entries should reach the Director (DAE) by 31st January, 2007 before 5 pm.

10. Entries received after the closing date and time will not be entertained

11. Directorate of Adult Education, Department of School Education & Literacy, and Ministry of Human Resource Development will not be responsible for any damage or loss of entries in transit.

12. Decision of the Selection Committee will be final.

13. Competition is open to all excepting the employees of the Directorate of Adult Education/ Department, State Resource Centres, Jan Shikshan Sansthans, Zila Saksharata Samitis & State Directorate of Adult Education and their dependants.
