New Admission method for Professional Courses Flayed
Chennai: AIADMK general secretary and former chief minister J.Jayalalithaa on Thursday said the normalization methods to be adopted for admission to professional courses would considerably reduce the share of rural and poor students in the professional courses.
Reacting to the budget proposals for 2007 – 08 Jayalalithaa, in a statement here, said the committee that had recommended the method had not understood that the scheme in its present from would only proved to be a remedy which was worse that the disease.
The AIADMK government has passed an Act scrapping the CET, which at the same time ensured that the students of the State Board, who constituted more than 98 percent of the candidates, got the full benefit of admission based on the public examination marks only, she observed. The present procedure adopted by the DMK Government was based on normalization among various streams, she said and added this procedure, without taking into account the number of students in other streams and without adopting suitable scientific statistical methods, would only enable more students from other streams to secure admission professional colleges.
