Chennai: Nine self-financing engineering colleges in the state have failed to attract a single student in the ongoing Single Window System of counselling for admissions this year. The scene is equally grim for 44 other private institutions, in which the number of students admitted has not touched 10 as of August 12.

While top colleges are capitalising on the craze for engineering college seats, students and parents appear to be reluctant to enroll in lesser known institutions or colleges with poor academic track record.
