No Admission on Improvement Marks Based, Says High Court

The Madras High Court has made it clear that the self-financing colleges in the State should not here in after admit students on the basis of the improvement marks obtained in the improvement examinations conducted by the Boards in other States.

Justice S Nagamuthu made the observation last week while allowing a batch of writ petitions to quash the orders of the Director of Technical Education (DTE) with holding the approval of admission of students from other States admitted on the basis of the improvement marks.

Advocate R.Sureshkumar and others contended that during the course of admission for 2007-08, there was no stipulation that the students from other State Boards, who had undergone improvement examinations, would not be considered for admission.

Accepting the contention, the judge directed the Director of Technical Education to approve the admission of the students admitted during 2007-08.

He also directed the Anna University to publish the results of the examinations attended by the students.

The judge made it clear that this order should not be quoted as a precedent in future for any purpose.ture for any purpose.
