Chennai: Madras Diabetes Research Foundation (MDRF) and the American Diabetes Association (ADA) have launched the third postgraduate course on diabetology on Friday.
Inaugurating the programme, director of Medical Education Dr.P.Vijayalakshmi said changes in lifestyle and habits are the main causes for the emergence of non-communicable diseases.
“We need more awareness among people to curb the prevalence of diabetes. The State Government talking an interest in spreading awareness and controlling diabetes,” she said
A book on diabetes in Asians, jointly edited by Dr.Mohan, President of MDRF and Dr.Gundu H Rao, founder of SASAT International, was released on the occasion.
