Pollachi youth’s attempt to create world record enters third day
He plans to type continuously for 140 hours, taking a five-minute rest every hour
Pollachi: An Attempt by a 21 year-old youth to set world record by typing continuously for 140 hours entered third day here, on Wednesday.
A.M. Mohammed Zulfi Karali, a fourth year M.Sc. Software student of Sree Saraswathi Thyagaraja College began his ambitious attempt on Monday at the computer centre of the college’s town premises here.
Mr. Karali said that he chose this attempt to high-light his six-point agenda including the promotion of national unity, rehabilitation of children who sought alms on the streets and provision on the streets and provision of infrastructure for his hometown Pollachi.
He started typing the book titled ‘World Famous Speeches’ and completed typing 158 pages out of 388 by 7.p.m. on Tuesday, said M. Sivasubramaniam, NSS programme officer of the Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology, who is one of the observers of the event.
Mr. Karali wanted to find a place in Guinness Book of World Records by typing continuously for 140 hours, taking a five-minute rest every hour. The existing record for continuous typing is 120 hours.
He said that the printing of the national flag on paper should be banned, because they were thrown into dustbins after being used in celebrations. He also wanted a simple translation of the national anthem printed in all text books.
The Government and service organizations should come forward rehabilitate children who sought alms on the streets.
Besides this, the Government Hospital in Pollachi should be upgraded with modern equipment and the Pollachi central bus stand expanded to accommodate more buses and passengers.
His plan was to continue his typing task till Sunday, with five observers overseeing his attempt.
