Chennai: To provide trained personnel for the Rs. 10 lakh crore retail market of the country, an Academy of Retail Management (ARM) is opened in Velachery. The academy would contact certificate courses in retailing and in retail management, thus enabling the candidates to earn jobs of customer sales representatives, store operations managers, retail operations managers, buyers and merchandisers, visual merchandisers, supply chain distributors and logistics and warehouse managers.
A Raja, Union Minister for Environment and Forests, while inaugurating the academy here today, said, that such institutes would provide an opportunity to the common students to earn a job in the mainstream sector and thus contributing to the economic growth of the nation.
He said the Indian retail market had been growing at tremendous pace and the lifestyle of the people had also changed, bringing in more variety and scope to the retail segment.
