SSM group of institutions here will soon open a centre in Sri Lanka to help Tamil students pursue higher education.
The institutions would set up two centres one in Colombo and another in Batticaloa in the ensuing academic year.
In those centres it would help conduct university-approved distance education courses and also offer its expertise in conducting distance education courses of other universities, M. S. Mathivanan, chairman of the group of institutions said here on Tuesday.
The move was to provide opportunities to Tamil students to pursue higher education, especially for students from the north and east of the country. Towards this, the SSM group of institutions had tied up with RILA International Pvt. Ltd., a Sri Lankan organisation.
K. Pathmanathan, Member of Parliament, Digamadulla, Sri Lanka, said the move would help thousands of Tamil students who could not pursue higher education because of Sri Lankan education policy.
