Literary Translation Competition

Sahitya Akademi's bi-monthly English journal celebrates its 50th year of publication. Translations from Indian languages into English in the genres of Poetry (not more than 60 lines in translation), Short Fiction (not more than 2500 words) and from our Oral Literatures (from any genre, but following the same word-limits) are invited, so as to reach Within one month of publication of this advertisement. No name or address of translator, or any attempt at self-identification should be there on the body of the submissions. The submissions should be accompanied by photocopies of original texts. Separate covering letters, with name and mailing address, phone number, email id etc. should accompany each entry. As far as possible, mailing address, telephone numbers, email ids of living authors, and in the case of deceased authors, the name of the legal heirs, should be provided. The prize-winning entries, and those short-listed in the process, shall be published in Indian Literature on a priority basis.

If the jury decides that no prize is to be given in any category, for want of quality entries or otherwise, the Secretary, Sahitya Akademi reserves the right to withdraw such prizes from the offer. No Sahitya Akademi employees or their relatives can participate.
