Coimbatore: Nandini Voice For the Deprived, a Chennai-based Non-Governmental Organisation, will offer scholarships to 2007 deserving school students belonging to economically weaker sections of the society for 2007-08.
A release from the trustee, N.S. Venkataraman, said students would be offered financial assistance on them fulfilling certain criteria. The joint income of the parents of students studying in Government schools should not exceed Rs. 4,000. The age of the student should not exceed 18 years. More than one child from the same family was eligible to apply.
The amount would be given in the form of a cheque addressed to the educational institution. It would also be provided in the form of books, uniforms, etc. Students could claim the assistance for training in typewriting and extra-curricular activities.
The amount would be decided by the NGO after taking into consideration various factors and also getting proof in the form of a letter from the educational institution. More number of scholarships were reserved for students from rural areas.
