Coimbatore: A ‘School of Telecom’ offering certified training courses tailored to suit the needs of telecom industry will be launched here on Thursday by G M Telekom Services (GMTS) India Private Limited, a city-based service provider for vendors and operators of the telecom industry.
“The School offers four training courses on Telecom Technician, Engineer, Manager and Telecom Professional with about nine months duration each”, V.Gourishankar, managing director of GMTS, said.
Qualification required to pursue the training is a degree or diploma in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Electronics and Electrical Engineering (EEE), Computer Science (CS), Information Technology (IT), MSc or BSc in Physics, Electronics, MBA, MCA, M.Com, B.Com.
Special telecom infrastructure courses are designed for ITI and Plus 2 students too.
“At present, the courses offered in engineering colleges are not specifically oriented to the industry which is why companies are investing huge amount of money for training alone,” he said.
The training they offer would held the industry as well as provide job opportunities for students in the expanding field of telecommunications.
According to him, GMTS has already been training the students to recruit them for their own company.
The courses would include practical training.
The basic fee for a course is fixed at Rs.27, 500.
