Students Bring out Online Browser-Based Game

Chennai: Passionate about gaming, six graduates from SSN Engineering College have developed an online, browser-based game called ‘The Warrior King’.

Set in a medieval era, the game involves a player assuming the role of a king and setting out to conquer further lands while safeguarding his own kingdom.

“In most online games, a free user has very little chance of success, but in our game even a free user has a fair chance of succeeding,” said T.R. Anoop, one of the developers of the game.

The idea first struck them when they were in their final year at the college last year, and since then there has been no looking back.

Even though four of the six are employed, they have made the time to work on the project.

Now fully functional, the game is accessible online and the developers plan to market it from this month end.

Features

“One of the features of the game is that it allows users to spy on other players and their strategies,” said R. Karthik, another developer,” he added.

‘The Warrior King’ was launched at an inter-collegiate symposium ‘Paradigm 2007’, organised by the Computer Science Department of SSN Engineering College on Friday. Several thousand students from 45 colleges across the State participated in the symposium. Head of the Computer Science Department Chitra Babu said that the winner of the paper presentation competition would be given a month-long internship at IBM, while the winner of the debugging competition would get an internship at Tata Consultancy Services.
