Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) students visits on IPM field

Nineteen master's degree and five doctoral students of the Department of Agricultural Entomology of the Coimbatore and Madurai campuses of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) went on a two-day field visit pertaining to Integrated Pest Management (IPM).

They visited the Project Directorate of Biological Control, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bio-control Research Laboratory in Pest Control of India, and Indian Institute of Horticultural Research in Bangalore, according to a release from TNAU.

The students learnt location-specific IPM modules with special reference to bio-control agents in the U.S.

They also got to know about the new phero-mone traps and lures manufactured by the Pest Control of India to control many serious insect pests.

They interacted with scientists on the use of new molecules in IPM of fruits and vegetables with special emphasis on diamond backmoth, fruit fly, pomegranate fruit borer and unique bat pest on grapes, the press release from the varsity added.
