Tirunelveli Student tops the SASTRA B.Tech Admission List

The SASTRA University B. Tech. admissions rank list for 2010-11 has been released. R. Venkatakrishnan of Sri Jayendra Golden Jubilee HSS, Tirunelveli who had secured 99.75 per cent in the Plus-Two examinations, has bagged the first rank.

C. Lakshmi of NSN Matriculation HSS, Chennai, got the second rank with 99.58 per cent. Getssy Prathiba of Savithri Vidyasala, Tiruchi secured the third rank with 99.49 per cent in the Plus-Two examinations.

Counselling for admissions will be held between June 21 and 24 at Thanjavur. Call letters are being dispatched. The cut-off marks for the last candidate called for counselling stands at 92.91 per cent. The results are available at www.sastra.edu.

The admission to 70 per cent of the seats in various B. Tech. programmes is based on the rank secured by a student, which is calculated based on the aggregate marks secured in the Plus-Two examination.

Over 12,000 applications were submitted by students from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Kerala, Bihar, Jharkhand, Delhi, Kolkata, UP, Rajasthan, Goa, Assam, etc. The Plus-Two marks were normalised to bring all students to the same level of comparison and the rank list is released based on the normalised scores.

The remaining 30 per cent of the seats will be filled by SATSRA based on all India ranks secured in AIEEE for which applications can be submitted online at www.sastra.edu and counselling is scheduled for July 2.

The entire admission process is based on merit, stated a university release here on Saturday.
