Coimbatore: The system of conducting examinations through online will be introduced in the country shortly, said K.Balaveera Reddy, vice-Chancellor of Visvesvaratya Technical University.
Delivering graduation day address at Kumaraguru College of Technology here on Sunday, chief guest Balavera Reddy urged for more funds for education and remarked that education decided the destiny of nation.
He also said that the education system should be redesigned so as to accelerate the economic development of the country.
Observing that India had made rapid strides in the field of technology development, he asserted that it was imperative to upgrade higher and technical education and technical education as we have to face a stiff competition in the globalised atmosphere.
Thrust should be given to technology-based curriculum, employment and training, industry-institute interaction, encouragement of entrepreneurs and community-oriented development, he added.
Reddy further said that India was the only country to launch a satellite exclusively for the cause of education.
“Nearly 125 colleges have been networked with Visvesvaraya Technological University for the purpose of providing all facilities to the student community to pursue higher education,” he added.
Chairman of Sakthi Group of Companies N.Mahalingam presided over the function. Principal Joseph Thanikal read out the annual report. Correspnndent K.Arumugam Welcomed to the gathering.
Degree certificates were given away to 667 students, of them 16 had bagged university gold medals.
