California University Team visits AITAM
A 27-member team of professors lead by Paul Erikson from the University of California – Davis visited Aditya Institute of Technology and Management (AITAM), Tekkali, on Tuesday.
AITAM entered into an MoU with UC – Davis in the field of research and as per the MoU, UC – Davis will encourage research in the fields of conservation of fuels and effective utilisation of energy.
Addressing the students, the leader of the team advised them to set a direction for themselves during their engineering study.
“Creativity is the soul of engineering education,” he said. American universities give priority to research activities, and he advised the students to take up research.
A retired professor Dick Bourne interacted with the students and explained certain principles to be followed by students.
He stated that by following certain principles, the students of engineering could help society.
He said that more funds would be provided to carry out research work if the students could come up with suitable projects. Matt Seitzler, Christopher Van Lienden and Jonathan Woolley spoke about the several research projects being taken up by them.
Gunda Siva Gangadhar, a research scholar with UC – Davis urged the students to develop proficiency in English to have an excellent career in engineering.
The Director of AITAM, Prof. V. V. Nageswara Rao informed that UC – Davis would provide funds to carry out several research projects and provide excellent opportunities to the students who were keen on doing research there.
He also added that faculty exchange programmes also could be worked out. The Chairman of the college K. Someswara Rao, Secretary L. L. Naidu, and other senior faculty members were present.
