Online Job registration at Akshaya Centres from June

Akshaya entrepreneurs in the district have decided to introduce an online job registration system at Akshaya centres from June to assist unemployed youth.

The decision was taken by the entrepreneurs’ consortium called the E-Sevanam Trust in the wake of the good response to its maiden job fair conducted in Kozhikode city on 22nd May, 2011.

The office – bearers of the trust said the job fair helped 300 people to get suitable jobs. Nearly 1,000 aspirants, majority of them women, attended the interview, they said. Those who attended the interview included postgraduates and people who had discontinued their studies after the SSLC.

The fair was conducted as an experiment using the data of people who had earlier registered their names with the labour – business data search engine www.esevanam.in.

It was held to fill nearly 600 vacancies reported by employers in the district. N. Nadheer, chairman of the trust, said the various recruiting firms and agencies in the district responded positively to the fair. Over 50 firms participated.

Mr. Nadheer said the online registration system would help the youth to search for jobs in a hassle – free manner.

Altogether, 140 Akshaya centres would cooperate with the initiative.

The Akshaya centres would also collect details of the potential employers in the district and upload their requirements for the benefit of the job seekers. A nominal fee would be collected from the job aspirants and the employers to successfully run the venture.

The consortium would organise one more job fair in the city in two months to assist those who had registered their names.

Prior to that, the employers who could not find eligible candidates at the job fair would be provided a screened list of candidates’ biodata to make the selection process easier.
