Participating as chief guest at the inaugural function, the Vice – Chancellor said that though there was a huge demand for photographers, professional training and expertise were needed to hone their skills. He lauded the association for conducting workshops in this regard.

On the photography course to be launched by the university, he said that a decision would be taken after considering infrastructure requirements like a studio and other equipment and technical expertise. He felt that professionals like Satyam, Giri Gopal and Ramesh of Edit Point could be of help in this regard.
Association Vice – President Giri Gopal, secretary Krishna Prasad and Ramesh of Edit Point spoke.
Association chairman Prasad said that Mr. Satyam has been conducting free workshops for the association for the last 25 years. He had brought out his experience in the field in the form of a 300 – page book on ‘practical photography’.
Mr. Sathyam said that the book was based on his practical experience. Describing photography as a science, he said photographers should learn to use the available light, lenses and the correct angle to get the right pictures.
Contrary to the popular notion that digital photography has made the subject easy, it had made it all the more difficult. One should invariably know the various aspects like colour composition, focus and temperature to get the correct pictures. “I have made five 22 – minute episodes on ‘A guide to photography’ to teach about the practical aspects of photography. Talks are on with TV channels for telecast of the same in a serial form,” he said.
