Anna University Coimbatore enrolled 1,300 research scholars from this year

The Role of research is very important in the age of globalisation. Anna University, Coimbatore, has enrolled 1,300 research scholars this year, its Vice-Chancellor R. Radhakrishnan said here recently.

Inaugurating the KTVR Knowledge Park for Engineering and Technology at Maddhampalayam, he urged faculty members to inculcate the research culture in students.

“It is important to have state-of-the-art technologies for imparting technical education.

“The new Examination Management System planned for conducting online examinations and other facilities such as e-governance in affiliated colleges will give a facelift to technical education offered by Anna University, Coimbatore,” the Vice-Chancellor said.

He also spoke on the proposed virtual laboratories where students living in remote areas can conduct experiments in a centralised facility.

Several students could access and conduct the experiments at the same time, he said.

He called for Information Technology enabled courses to be included in all disciplines of engineering and technology.
