Applications invited for Environment Awards
The State Government has invited applications from eligible persons for the environment awards.
A release from the Director of Environment Department said that it had been proposed to present environment awards to those involved in environmental education and awareness, environment protection and environment management activities.
Educational institutions, individuals and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) were to be chosen for the awards for 2009. For the awards for environmental education and awareness, the candidates could be from educational institutions, academicians and individuals who had excelled in environmental education.
For the awards for environment protection, NGOs and individuals involved in environmental protection were eligible and for the environment management, candidates could be those who had done research and institutions that had excelled in environment management activities.
For all the three categories, individuals and institutions from the State could apply. Those who had already been awarded or honoured by the Environment Department were not eligible for the awards. Filled in applications in five copies along with the bank instrument for Rs. 100 and three passport size photographs should be sent.
Similarly, there would be a separate award for the best research in environment for research papers published between January and December 2009. It could have been by an individual or by a group. The chosen research paper would bag a cash reward and certificate.
Papers already awarded would not qualify for the award. The application forms for these awards could be received from:
