Army CEE to go Online from January 2011
The Indian Army is all set to conduct its Common Entrance Examination (CEE) in online mode in a phased manner from January 2011.
Eligible candidates will be given basic training in computers to enable them to tackle the examination with ease, said Brigadier Pankaj Sinha, Deputy Director General of Recruiting (Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andaman & Nicobar Islands).
Addressing a conference at the Police Parade Grounds in Andhra Pradesh after inspecting the ongoing Army recruitment rally, Brig. Sinha said the automation project was intended to make the recruitment process easy both for the Army and those taking the examination.
Brig. Sinha said being the second largest in the world, the Indian Army was in need of constant inflow of manpower.
Vacancies were allotted to States on the basis of Recruitable Male Population (RMP) which is derived from the Census figures.
The RMP in Andhra Pradesh stood at 7.2 per cent and there was never an occasion when the vacancies allotted to the State were surrendered.
Open rallies were conducted throughout the country for inducting such youth into the Army.
The most important thing the Army sought to highlight was the fact that it recruits people purely on merit basis and the aspiring candidates need not pay a single rupee to anyone in the process.
Joint Collector A Sarath also spoke.
