Ayurvedic College starts admission from this Year

Admission to the Government Ayurvedic College in the city will commence from this academic year, Chairperson of the Legislative Council D.H. Shankaramurthy has said.

He was addressing press persons here on 28th June, 2011.

The State government had earmarked Rupee 10 crore in the budget for 2010 – 11 to establish the college. The college would function from a rented building for the first two years. The district administration had been instructed to acquire 100 acres of land near Agasavalli to build a campus for the college, he said.

The government had released Rupee. 2 crore to pay compensation to farmers cultivating bagair hukum land at Agasavalli. A sum of Rupee 2 lakh would be paid as compensation for an acre of land for bagair hukum farmers, Mr. Shankaramurthy said.

The Government Ayurvedic Hospital in the city would be upgraded from 60 to 120 beds as per the norms of the Medical Council of India. The government had released Rupee 2 crore for the purpose.
