Bharathiar University identifies five unaffiliated B.Ed. Colleges

The Bharathiar University (BU) has identified five unaffiliated B.Ed colleges in Kongu region. Kumudha College at Nambiyur in Gobichettypalayam is one among them.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Thursday, Vice-Chancellor Prof. G Thiruvasagam, said that students should be aware of the status of the colleges before joining.

“Students should not join an unaffiliated college as they will never be allowed to write examinations,” he said and added that there were 37 affiliated B.Ed colleges under the BU.

Stating that strict action would be taken against the ‘bogus’ colleges, he said that the university would soon come out with a list of unaffiliated colleges, so that the students and parents would remain alert.

“Parents and students should know whether a college is affiliated or not before seeking admission. The varsity website will help students know the status of a college,” Thiruvasagam said.

Additional Seats

The BU has made it clear that the colleges seeking additional seats will have to give the following undertaking to the varsity:

  • No capitation fee will be collected
  • No admission will be given before the publication of results
  • No additional fees will be collected from the students
  • The admission list will be put on the notice board.

“Unless the colleges give this undertaking, no additional seats will be provided to them,” Thiruvasagam said.

Reservation for Sports

The university has announced one percent reservation for candidates under sports quota for admission to arts and science courses.
