Bharathiar University to introduce BA Civil Services this academic year apart from MA Civil Services
Making things easier for IAS/IPS aspirants, the Bharathiar University (BU) has introduced a new Under Graduate (UG) course – BA Civil Services – from this academic year.
The varsity has already announced the introduction of MA Civil Services this year.
“With the introduction of UG course in civil services, the students will get five years’ exposure to the subject if they opt for MA too,” said Prof G Thiruvasagam, BU Vice-Chancellor here.
Students should concentrate on civil services from the beginning of their higher education, said the VC.
“There are many advantages of it. They will get extensive coaching from our faculty and experts from outside. The students can also make use of the library and internet,” he said.
The varsity will send the intimation to the colleges inviting applications for the course, which will be under the self-financing scheme. “We will advise the colleges to fix a reasonable fee,” Thiruvasagam said.
The university has already advertised the commencing of MA Civil Services and is getting applications from the colleges.
The varsity, since it does not have the Civil Service department, has entrusted the work of conducting the course with the departments of Sociology and Population Studies for MA Civil Services.
Around 30 students will be enrolled for the PG course. There will be around 50 students in each college for the UG course. The course will begin this academic year.
The syllabus will be framed by an advisory body comprising of Irayanbu IAS, Silendra Babu IPS and Venkatesan IAS, who is Karur District Collector.
The advisory body will meet once in six months.
“We will also rope in the faculty of top IAS coaching academies in India to train the students,’ the Vice Chancellor said.
Application Form Submission 16 Dec 2020 to 16 Jan 2021.
