Nursing exams in Bidar from March 8

The examinations for nursing students in Bidar colleges, which were cancelled owing to large – scale irregularities at the examination centre in Bangalore, will be conducted here from March 8, 2011.

The examinations will be held at the Bidar Institute of Medical Sciences.

Minister for Medical Education S.A. Ramdas told presspersons here on 23 February, 2011 that the Government had arrived at this decision after consulting officials, college managements, students and teachers.

He was speaking after a meeting with officials and college managements at the zilla panchayat.

The Minister said the examinations would be held under “strict vigilance” and be supervised by Registrar (Evaluation) of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences G.S. Venkatesh, Deputy Commissioner Sameer Shukla has been instructed to ensure that the process is free of malpractice, he said.

Closed circuit television cameras will be put up around the examination halls and movement of persons around the examination centres will be restricted. Question papers will be uploaded on the Nursing Examination Board website and will be available for download just 15 minutes before the examination starts, he said.

Mr. Ramdas also said that colleges in the districts would not be allowed to shift examinations to Bangalore without the permission of the Nursing Examination Board. The Government would take action against officials who decided to shift the examination centre, he said.

Pay scale

The Minister said the teaching staff of the Bidar Institute of Medical Sciences would come under an upgraded pay scale. The services of temporary staff would be regularised.

The Cabinet would decide on promoting the staff, he said.

Several private managements had defaulted on the payment of clinical fees to the tune of [rupee] 47 lakh to the district government hospital. That amount will be recovered, Mr. Ramdas said.
