PPG College of Nursing recently conducted a workshop on recent trends in Oncology nursing. A release said Muthur Lekshmi, professor, delivered the welcome address.
The workshop was organised to enlighten the youth on cancer and the recent trends in cancer treatment. L.P. Thangavelu, Chairman, PPG Group of Institutions said that workshops were helpful in keeping up the standards of profession.

The NSS units of Sankara College of Science and Commerce recently conducted a program to create awareness on breast cancer . A release said the college conducted the program in association with Sri Ramakrishna Hospital.
Forty NSS volunteers participated in the program, in which they distributed pamphlets and explained what breast cancer was all about to residents of Ganapathy.

The Youth Red Cross unit of Sri Ramalinga Sowdambigai College of Science and Commerce and Coimbatore Medical College Hospital recently organised a blood donation camp.

A seminar on “Leadership in Action” was held at Sankara College of Science and College. City Police Commissioner C. Sylendra Babu addressed the students.
He said that students with good leadership qualities and communication abilities could become entrepreneurs and offer jobs to thousands.
A tree plantation day was held at Dr. NGP Teacher Training Institute. R. Elangovan, Director of Teacher Education Research and Training, Chennai, led the dignitaries and students in the plantation drive. The merits of growing trees were stressed on students.
Saplings were also distributed to students and teachers to be planted in their homes.
The Department of Botany of PSG College of Arts and Science organised a lecture on “Algal Biomass Production and Utilisation integrated with Phycoremediation”.
V. Sivasubramaniam, Director, Vivekananda Institute of Algal Technology, Chennai, spoke on the topic. Students were also explained about the commercial utilisation of marine algae for alginate production and its application in textile printing at a workshop held by the Department.
KV Institute of Management and Information Studies conducted Ko – Inducium and cancer awareness program for the students.
