CBSE Class XII Exams results increased by 10% compared to the previous year

The Chennai region improved its results in the Class XII Central Board of Secondary Examinations (CBSE), the results of which were announced on Wednesday.

The region, including States of Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Daman and Diu, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep, registered a 10 per cent increase in pass percentage, compared to the previous year.

Last year, the region registered a pass percentage of 83.

“In Tamil Nadu, a total of 5086 students have passed, out of the 5,328 students registered for the exams,” informed N Nagaraju, regional director, CBSE.

A total of 5315 students from 176 schools appeared for the CBSE examinations in 72 centres across the State.

On the whole, a healthy 92.84 per cent of 46,721 students cleared the CBSE exams in the country. Puducherry came up with a sterling performance, with a pass percentage of 97.75.

Out of the 178 students who appeared for the examinations from the region, 174 passed.

Out of the total 20,565 girls, who appeared for the examination, 20,565 came out in flying colours. But, out of the 26,156 boys, only 23, 980 were declared as eligible for higher education. While 94.32 per cent of the girls passed the exams, boys recorded a 91.6 per cent success.
