Centre for Development Studies offers M.Phil., Ph.D. Courses

The Centre for Development Studies, Ulloor, Thiruvananthapuram, has invited applications for admission to its M.Phil. courses in applied economics and Ph.D. programme in economics.

These are full time residential programmes affiliated to JNU, New Delhi, and will commence on 1st August, 2011. CDS envisages an intake of 12 for M.Phil. course and six for Ph.D. programmes.

Eligibility for M.Phil. course in applied economics is Master’s degree in economics / other social sciences / humanities / law with at least 55 per cent marks or a minimum of 60 per cent marks in science / technology / life sciences.

For the Ph.D. programme in economics, priority areas will include agriculture, economic history, gender development, health, poverty, industry and technology, labour and employment, population studies, trade and macroeconomics.

Entry qualification is an M.Phil. degree or Master’s degree with at least 55 per cent marks in economics or related disciplines.

Application form and prospectus can be downloaded from the web site www.cds.edu and duly filled in application should be sent along with relevant documents to the following addressee so as to reach on or before 27th May, 2011.

The selection is based on academic merit / research aptitude test and interview. Selected students will get financial assistance of 3,000 per month for M.Phil. course and 12,000 per month for Ph.D. programme.
