A show of Engineering Innovations at CET
The young brains at the College of Engineering, Trivandrum ( CET ) in the city had no second thoughts about the practicality of creating and presenting realistic models of Leonardo da Vinci’s sketches. They took the plunge and set up this unique project, on display at ‘Drishti,’ a three – day national technical fest – cum – exhibition that began at the college on 15th September, 2012.
CET 44 Events :
Not just this, as many as 44 events on themes such as Management, Applied Robotics, and Computer Science are being held as part of the festival. Innovative product competitions, android development events, Start – up Village workshops and Pan – India CEO are the other events scheduled.
The theme of the festival is Frugal Innovation, a tribute from the to – be engineer’s to rural India’s efforts to innovate in the face of extreme infrastructural deficiency.
For School Children :
Motivating the younger members to the world of engineering, the fest also has a get – together of the engineering brains from schools at the Young Engineer competition, a better way, perhaps, to celebrate Engineers Day. Students in the age group of 13 – 17 will present models on innovative ideas which will be judged by teachers of CET.
This is basically an attempt to promote innovation over textbook – oriented learning among school students.
An exhibition is also planned where CET students will put their projects on display for the public to acquaint themselves with the latest in technology, said Vivek S. Menon, Event Convener.
