Director of the Institute of International Trade & Tax Studies (IITTS), Chennai, S.S. Radhakrishnan, inaugurated an online add-on certificate course in foreign trade for B.Com. students at the Dhanabagyam Krishnaswamy Mudaliar (DKM) College for Women here on Friday. The IITTS would be conducting the course.
Mr. Radhakrishnan, former Additional Commissioner of Customs, Chennai, said that the possession of a certificate in this add-on course would enable the B.Com. students to secure foreign trade-related jobs.
Those interested in import and export business should obtain the Import Export Code from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade.
Once they start the business, they should establish contact with foreign agencies dealing with export / imports after ascertaining their genuineness.
Mr. Radhakrishnan, who will be the course director, said that the online course would be flexible, in that there would be no specific time schedules for receiving lessons.
P.K.S. Ramakrishnan, member of the IITTS faculty and a former Assistant Commissioner of Customs and Central Excise, dwelt on central excise and service tax.

K. Revathi, Principal, DKM College, welcomed the gathering. Nappinnai, Head of the Department of Commerce and Suseela, Professor of Commerce spoke.
Mythili, Professor of Commerce said that 35 students r students have joined the add-on course.
The college is already providing add-on courses for B.Com. students in association with Tally and the National Institute of Information Technology (NIIT), she said.
