Odisha Government decides to replicate the E – admission System
The State Government on 24th January, 2012 decided to replicate the e – admission system in all the 650 Degree Colleges from the 2012 – 13 academic year.
According to Chief Secretary Bijoy Patnaik, with the e – admission system getting popular among the students in Junior Colleges, the Student Academic Management System ( SAMS ) was implemented on pilot basis in selected 53 Degree Colleges during 2011 – 12. The SAMS was further implemented in 162 Degree Colleges during the 2011 – 12 academic year.
Since the success rate was high with 51,500 students taking admission through the e – admission system, it was decided to replicate the SAMS in all the Degree Colleges during the next academic year, he said. The Chief Secretary added that during 2011 – 12 academic year, an estimated 2.55 lakh students had taken admission through the e – admission system covering 1,307 Government and Non – Government aided colleges.
Patnaik said that so far for management and operating the SAMS, over 1,200 teachers and employees were given training and as many as 380 SAMS centre have been opened in the State to help in operating the SAMS software.
Patnaik said that during last academic year an estimated five lakh students belonging to the Junior Colleges and Degree Colleges had taken admission by receiving intimation through the SAMS which had saved time and money in a big way.
