Kannur Seminar on Animation

Toonz Animation India Private Limited will conduct a seminar on novel possibilities in animation and visual effects for youths and their parents at Hotel Royal Omars on 17th April, 2013.

The programme being conducted for free across southern India had already been held at Wayanad, Kasaragod, and Kozhikode.

It aims at educating students and their parents about the possibilities in animation. Nearly 80 people can participate in the seminar. The centre at Thiruvananthapuram will be opened to the public on 19th April, 2013, 22nd April, 2013 and 23rd April, 2013, the organisers said at a press meet here on 15th April, 2013. ISRO sponsored Seminar 2013

The Kumaraguru College of Technology here is hosting an Indian Space Research Organisation – sponsored national seminar on “Recent advancement in remote sensing image processing” on 16th April, 2013.

According to a press note, image processing of remote sensing data is used in urban planning, flood prediction, identification of cyclone formation and its movement.

This could help reduce the damage caused by natural calamities, which will have huge impact on economy, environment and safety issues.

However, to use this technology efficiently it needs multidisciplinary work involving computing, electronics, communication and Mechatronics engineering.

The seminar will focus on the research opportunities in the field and encourage academicians and engineers to take to this field, the release says.

V. K. Dadhwal, Director of the National Remote Sensing Centre, Hyderabad, was scheduled to take part in the meet.

National Seminar on Human Rights

Testimonies of those who have been at the receiving end of gross human rights violations, violence and discrimination on account of their religion, caste or gender, and those who have fought adversities, will be the highlight of a national seminar on human rights to be held in Bangalore from 16th April, 2013 to 19th April, 2013. It will have participants from all over India, the All – India Christian Council, which is organising the event, told presspersons.

The focus will be on advocacy and creating awareness on human rights issues. Several experts will speak at the conference, which will be held at the Cornerstone Campus here. The last day will be dedicated to a public hearing of a “people’s tribunal” where human rights victims will narrate their stories. This will be held at the Institution of Agricultural Technology. Eminent juror M.F. Saldanha will be present.

Seminar on Travel Literature

The Thunchathu Ezhuthachan Malayalam University, in association with the S.K. Pottekkatt Cultural Centre, is organising a seminar on the travel literature of Pottekkatt at the Town Hall on 6th April, 2013.

The seminar is being conducted as part of the birth centenary celebrations of Pottekkatt.

Writers George Onakkoor, Asha Menon, B.V. Sasikumar, Shihabuddeen Poithumkadavu, P.K. Parakkadavu, and others will present papers on the occasion.

GCCI Seminar on new Investment Policy 2013

The Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry ( GCCI ) will hold a seminar, ‘Looking forward to industrial growth through new investment policy’, on 13th April, 2013 at the GCCI hall Panaji.

The seminar will revolve around Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s statement during the budget speech that a new investment policy would be released on 30th May, 2013.

MLAs Vishnu Wagh and Vijay Sardesai, Former Presidents of GCCI, Goa State Industry Association and Confederation of Indian Industries, and Planning Board members will be invited to speak. “A White Paper will be published and submitted to the government and task force members,” said GCCI president Manguirsh Pai Raikar on 28th March, 2013.

CUK University to host Seminar 2013

Central University of Kerala ( CUK ) Vice Chancellor Jancy James will inaugurate an international seminar on ‘India and international organisations: towards multilateralism’ organised by the university at the Central Plantation Crops Research Institute ( CPCRI ) auditorium here on 20th March, 2013.

Former diplomat T.P. Sreenivasan, who is also a visiting faculty at the International Relations Department of the university, will preside over the function. Over 20 scholars from various universities in the country and delegates from six nations are expected to attend.

Seminar on Nanoscience 2013

A two – day Indo – Canadian symposium on nanoscience and technology will be organised by the National Institute of Engineering ( NIE ), Mysore, and McMaster University, Canada. The symposium will be held on 20th February, 2013 and 21st February, 2013 and Robert Pelton, Professor, Canada Research Chair in Interfacial Technologies and Scientific Director, SENTINEL, McMaster University, will inaugurate it.

G.L. Shekar, Principal, NIE, said in a release that the objective of the symposium was to provide a platform for participants from academia, research organisations and industry, who are actively involved in research on nanoscience and technology.

He said the symposium will provide opportunities for delegates to exchange new ideas and applications to foster business or research initiatives and to find global partners for future collaboration through their poster presentations, abstracts or full papers.

The symposium will feature oral presentations by research scholars on functional nanocomposites, nanophotonics and nanoelectronics, advanced nanomaterials, synthesis of nanomaterials, nanofluids, nanomaterials for renewable energy applications and commercialisation of nantechnology.
