83rd National Workshop on Radiochemistry and Applications of Radioisotopes at Khalsa College Amritsar
Khalsa College Amritsar ( KCA ) is going to host the 83rd National Workshop on Radiochemistry and Applications of Radioisotopes ( NWRAR ) from 21st September, 2013 to 28th September, 2013.
As revealed by KCA principal Dr Daljit Singh, the scientists from the prestigious Bhabha Atomic Research Centre ( BARC ) would address the event and discuss about the applications of radiations in physical, chemical and biological sciences.
He further revealed that the BARC is organizing the workshop in collaboration of KCA department of physics and the Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences, Mumbai sponsors the same. BARC director, radioisotope, Dr KL Ramakumar will be addressing the event and the renowned scientists such as Dr SK Aggarwal, Dr AVR Reddy, Dr Sarbjit Singh, Dr Rajesh Pai, Dr Gursharan Singh and Dr Veena Sagar would deliver their lectures as well as perform practical sessions during the workshop.
Workshop on Cyber Forensics on April 26, 27
The Department of Computer Science and Systems Engineering of Andhra University College of Engineering is organising a National workshop on cyber forensics ( CYFOR – 2013 ) here on 26th April, 2013 and 27th April, 2013.
Cyber forensics, also called computer forensics, is the process of extracting information and data from computer storage media and guaranteeing its accuracy and reliability, explained convenor of CYFOR – 2013 D. Lalita Bhaskari. With the incidence of cyber crime increasing rapidly, everyone has to equip himself or herself to prevent serious damage to the resources of different kinds. “The workshop is specifically designed to provide the right knowledge to the aspiring forensic investigators, cyber security enthusiasts, researchers and students,” Prof. Lalita Bhaskari said.
The workshop will deal with different topics like memory forensics and mobile forensics with a six-hour practical session on mobile forensics. Registration for the workshop closes on 23rd April, 2013 and Prof. Lalita Baskari may be contacted on 9885438922 or 9160916454.
State Level Training cum Workshop 2013
The second state – level training – cum – workshop on learning science and technology through model rocketry by Samanta Chandrasekhar Vigyan Club ( SCVC ) was inaugurated at the Government High School here on 11th April, 2013.
The workshop was supported by Rashtriya Vigyan Evam Prodyogiki Sanchar Parishad ( RVPSP ), Department of Science & Technology. Some 50 science teachers from 12 districts of the State are taking part in the workshop. They are expected to transmit the knowledge to children in their respective schools.
According to organisers of the programme, at the end of the workshop at least ten model rockets using drawing sheets and other non- metallic components would be displayed.
SSA, IGNOU to organise Workshop
The Distance Education Programme ( DEP ) of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan ( SSA ) would organise a two – day workshop from 8th April, 2013 on preventing corporal punishment and mental harassment of children.
According to SSA official, two resource persons from Indira Gandhi National Open University would conduct the workshop.
A total of 30 Block Resource teachers from the Coimbatore SSA have been selected to take part in this programme.
Workshop for Pre University PU Students
The district administration organised a workshop for pre – university students at the Rang Mandir on 21st February, 2013.
P. C. Jaffer, Deputy Commissioner, said that this was part of a series of workshops that would be conducted to improve the quality of education in the district. He said efforts were being made to improve the pass percentage of students in SSLC and PUC, and to assist students in making the right career choices. This process would be streamlined when the proposed education development and career counseling centre would take shape, he said.
This would be run in association with private education institutions and NGOs, he said. Apart from assessing the aptitude of students, the centre would throw light on career choices other than medicine or engineering, he said. The centre would also organise workshops to help students develop self confidence. Dr. Jaffer felicitated Harshit, who hails from Bidar, for securing the first rank in the admission test of Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research. He is a student of Mysore Medical College.

Workshop on Trends in Speech Processing
Two – day workshop on ‘Recent trends and application in speech processing’ held at V.R. Siddhartha Engineering College on 15th February, 2013 and 16th February, 2013 gave a call to the students to be abreast of the latest developments in the field.
The workshop gave hands – on experience to students on applications that allow speech processing for various purposes. The event was organised by ECE Department of the college and sponsored by the TEQIP. At the inaugural convener of the Siddhartha Academy M. Rajaiah, said : “such programs are very much useful for the development of the college and we are planning to conduct many more programmes now onwards”. Associate Professor K Srinivasa Rao from IIT Kharagpur delivered the keynote address.On the second day Assistant Professor Anil Kumar from IIIT Hyderabad spoke on speaker identification in mobile environment using GMN Modelling. ECE Department Head K. Sriramakrishna and director K Mohan Rao were present.
Workshop at Park College
Park Institutions will host INK talks and a workshop by Massachusetts Institute of Technology on 28th January, 2013 at Park College of Engineering and Technology.
According to a release, the INK Salon will be held from 9 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. Priyanka Sharma, environmental nano – biotechnologist, Varun Agarwal, a young film maker, Alok Shetty, who designed a multi – speciality hospital at the age of 20, and Sourabh Kaushal, researcher in space debris mitigation, will be the speakers at the session.
A workshop on engineering design and prototyping will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Resource persons from Media Labs, MIT, will handle the sessions.
