Engineering Web Counselling from September 2
The process of engineering admissions for this year will start on Thursday with the facility for web options opening for students who appeared for the certificate verification in the last few days.
Students can log on www.apeamcet.nic.in from 8 a.m. in the morning to give their web options choosing their preferred courses in their favourite colleges.
Every student will get only two days time to give the options initially and they can change the options as many times as they want. Their options will be locked exactly after 48 hours.
However, those who wish to change the options once again have to wait till the final stage of options on 20th September, 2010 or 21st September, 2010 (depending on the rank).
“Last year, students were given three days time to give their options but the period has been reduced this year as students are more comfortable with the procedure,” said Dr. Raghunath, in charge of Admissions Camp Office at Hyderabad.
Dr. Raghunath said that every candidate can give more than 3,000 options with the number of colleges increasing this year. He advised them to go through the seat matrix of last year to get a fair idea of where they are likely to get admitted.
He said that password has to be kept secret as there is a chance of misuse if it was shared with friends. The misuse factor will be more among the top rankers as best colleges and courses are on offer initially.
Explaining the procedure, an officer said that for example if a student wished to join JNTU College of Engineering, Hyderabad they have to write 1 under the option number, under College code write JNTH, under course write CSE.
If they wish to give Mechanical Engineering branch as second option, they need to write 2 under option number, HYD under district code and JNTH under College code and MECH under course code. If the vacancy is not available in CSE branch, MEC will be considered for allotment automatically.
In the similar fashion, they can write down any number of options and procedure of allotment will be same. And they need to save their options given on the screen periodically. Senior teachers involved in web counselling say that students should not enter options directly on the web without preparatory work to avoid mistakes.
