European Union (EU) wooing Research Talents
The European Union could soon emerge as a favoured destination for top-notch research talent in India thanks to the efforts of the European Research Council (ERC) and by the European Forum on Research Infrastructures.
While the ERC is looking to fund individual researchers and their team for frontier-area research that responds to the blurring boundaries between basic research and applied research, the ESFRI is working to put in place advanced research facilities across Europe to woo researchers from around the world. Carlo Rizzuto, the chairman of the ESFRI, told.
The Hindu-Education Plus on the sidelines of the 97th Indian Science Congress that his forum plans to set up libraries, laboratories, data banks, cultural heritage preserves, nano facilities, computer centres and arctic stations.
ERC to 0ffer Grants
The ERC would offer ‘starting grants’ to support young researchers.
The funds would range from 2 million to 3.5 million Euros, said Helga Nowotny, European Research Council representative.
