Gulbarga to get Skill Development Centre
Everonn Skill Development Ltd., which has been mandated by the National Skill Development Commission to take up intensive programs throughout the country, will establish a centre to provide training in sewing machine operations and retail to unemployed youth in the city.
N.V.R. Nathan, chief operating officer of Everonn Skill Development Ltd., told that the skill development centre would be inaugurated as part of the three – day Gulbarga Utsav on 16th April, 2011.
“We chose training in sewing machine operation and retail keeping in view the requirements of an apparel park coming up in Gulbarga,” he said.
Dr. Nathan said work on establishment of the park would take at least a year to be launched. Hence, Everonn would provide placement to the trained youths in companies in Hyderabad and Bangalore.
These youths would be provided a minimum salary of 3,800 per month with free accommodation.
To a question, Dr. Nathan said 64 youths would be provided training at a time. Dr. Nathan said Everonn had decided to establish 30 such training centres in different States, including Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Jammu and Kashmir, and a few north – eastern States.
He said that like in Gulbarga, where the Jana Shikshana Samiti was the partner in the initiative, many educational institutions had come forward to partner with Everonn in providing training to youths in Jammu and Kashmir, who have been affected by terrorist activities, and north – eastern States, affected by the left – wing and extremist violence.
“We want to channelise the youths in these troubled States towards purposeful activities and provide them avenues of gainful employment,” he added.
In Jammu and Kashmir, youths would be trained in hospitality and retail sector. Many companies like Shoppers Stop, Lifestyle, Megamart and Reliance had come forward to provide placement to the trained youths.
“Everonn also has a tie – up with the Retailers’ Association of India,” he added.
