17 Schools in Faridabad Sealed
The Haryana education department cracked down on 43 private schools in Faridabad on Thursday, said to be running without recognition from any education board.
Of 20 schools checked, 17 were sealed, said Ritu Chaudhary, block education officer. The raiding team included an official from the education board, a government school principal, a clerk and a teacher of headmaster rank and was accompanied by a police team. Deputy DEO Satinder Verma was also part of the team.
Three schools locked up the buildings before the team reached. Some of the schools sealed were running classes from nursery to matriculation level, said Chaudhary, while the others were holding only primary level classes.
Over 2,000 students have been affected. We are yet to verify how they got their students to appear for the Board exams but a nexus with local officials is suspected.
“We were asked to seal schools found violating recognition norms. A decision will be taken in the state capital on future course of action,” she said. The drive will continue in coming days.
