Fashion School brings out Textile Design Source Book
To enhance unit value of textile products manufactured in the country and promote branding concept, the Tif-f-labs School of Fashion, Tirupur, promoted by the Tirupur Industrial Federation (TIF), has come out with a textile design source book, first of its kind.
The commercial launch of the book is expected to take place shortly.
The 217-page book, drafted with the strategic assistance of Textiles Committee, Government of India, under its cluster development initiative, is a repository of 400 innovative designs developed through a year-long research process.
The designs in the publication were conceptualised to suit multi-segment of the textile production from knitwear and woven apparels to home furnishings.
Special care had been taken by the research team to include a wide collection of designs that could be used for ethnic wears like sherwani, churidar and salwar kameez.
“Uniqueness of the book is that it can be used as a source manual by which the designs mentioned could be utilised as base sketches to reproduce at least 10,000 more designs,” D. Dhandapani, Deputy Director of Textiles Committee, told The Hindu.
In the textile clusters like Tirupur, the book could become a handy-friend for the entrepreneurs.
“With huge collection of designs at hand, the exporters can make attempts to come out with their own branded products and thereby move up the value-chain fast,” G. Venugopal, Cluster Development Executive, Textiles Committee, said.
Vikram Kumar, chief operating officer (COO), Tif-f-labs school of fashion, said the book would be popularised through trade shows that would be held across the country. The entrepreneurs who wished to know more of the book or place orders could contact Mr. Vikram Kumar (98947-97774) or G. Venugopal (98422-32062).
