Few Takers for MCA, MBA Courses
Colleges offering MBA and MCA courses are fighting for survival this year and many may not even get sufficient numbers to run the colleges with just half the qualified students attending the certificate verification process.
About 1.11 lakh seats are available in 892 MBA colleges and 660 MCA colleges in the State of which 67,000 are in convenor quota.
Officials say the trend is that students may not join the colleges after allotment if they don’t get admission in the college of their choice or course.
More than 7,000 seats will go vacant in the convenor quota itself and the numbers indicate that there will be no takers for management seats which will be around 50,000 in both MCA and MBA colleges.
“Only some top colleges will get management applicants,” a correspondent of a college agreed, adding that the future of these colleges is uncertain.
He said that MCA will be worst hit as it is a three-year course and also due to the fact that engineering students are preferred for software jobs. Meanwhile, officials said the allotment of seats in MBA and MCA courses will be done on 1st September, 2010.
